Every year on Children’s Day, carp-shaped streamers called “koinobori” are flown in Japan’s Tokyo Midtown area to celebrate children's strength and growth. My koinobori was inspired by my parents’ wishes for growth, prosperity, and longevity. As a way to represent those aspirations, my design referenced different Japanese flora and fauna.
